It’s Our Time
National Piping Centre | 10th-12th September 2026
Spanning three decades, Merrily We Roll Along charts the turbulent relationship between Frank Shepherd and his two lifelong friends - writer Mary, and lyricist and playwright Charley - the production is told in reverse chronological order, starting in 1977, and winding back to the begining of their friendship in 1957.
Premiering on Broadway in 1981, the original production was poorly received. However, it subsequently became something of a cult classic - the original West End production won the Olivier for Best Musical in 2000, a subsequent revival at the Menier Chocolate Factory in 2012 that transferred to the West End, an Encores! concert version at New York City Centre, and an off-Broadway production in 2022 starring Jonathan Groff, Daniel Radcliffe and Lindsay Mendez. This subsequently transferred to the Hudson Theatre on Broadway where it was nominated for 7 Tony Awards, winning 4 including Best Musical Revival and both Groff and Radcliffe winning Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor respectively. A film adaptation starring Ben Platt, Paul Mescal and Beanie Feldstein is also in production, being filmed over the course of 20 years, habing begun in 2019.
With a book by George Furth and music & lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, GLP is thrilled to present this rarely staged gem of a show in September 2026.

2027
Blending the plot of Brothers Grimm fairytales such as Rapunzel, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Jack & the Beanstalk; Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Into the Woods is one of their most enduring and popular musicals.
At the behest of a witch - a baker and his wife leave their home and journey into the woods to lift a curse that has been placed upon them. Little Red is on her way to her grandmothers house. Jack is on his way to market to sell his cow, and best friend, Milky White. Cinderella hopes to attend the festival and meet her Prince Charming. All of them wish to find something in the woods, but soon they will learn that although wishes may comes true - they are not always as they seem.
Originally produced on Broadway in 1987, winning three Tony Awards including Best Score and Best Book, the musical has enjoyed many subsequent productions: inculding the 2020 outdoor revival at Regent’s Park Open Air theatre, which subsequently transferred to New York’s Shakespeare in the Park, a 2022 Broadway revival which was nominated for 6 Tony Awards, and a 2025 West End revival - nominated for 10 Olivier Awards.
